For our August event in our series, Story-selling – Your Truth is your Value, Jo Johnson will demonstrate how to take the ancient art of storytelling out of the bar and into the boardroom and beyond!

Meet our compelling guest speaker in August, Jo Johnson.

Jo Johnson

Jo is a coastal dwelling, cat-loving kind of coach. She’s been a word-nerd her entire life and a business babe for half of it.  Her online passion began with shoe-shopping but quickly morphed into marketing and content.  She has a big-brand corporate pedigree (Country Road, realestate.com.au, TMP Worldwide), but her buzz now comes from helping motivated small business owners to grow through the art of storytelling.  

 Jo understands the frustrations people have with marketing themselves and their services: clarity of message is often elusive; overwhelm and comparisonitis are rife; and creativity and freedom is stifled. She also knows that when you trust your unique voice and share it wisely, that the marketing stops feeling ‘hard’ and the right clients start to ask you for an invoice.  

Through coaching and content marketing services, Jo helps create words that connect, compel and convert.  

Jo’s values are freedom, flexibility and fun.  These things permeate everything she does.

# Jo has over 25 years business experience, in marketing, communications and business development, working in both large global corporates, online startups and small business.  She is a huge believer in being brave in business, thinking differently and not letting perfection get in the way of progress.  Jo has a masters graduate in Virtual Communication, and undergrad degrees in English Lit and Proofing and Editing. SHE LOVES language and has always been a word-nerd.  

# Jo has won numerous sales and achievement awards at her last job at realestate.com.au as Sales Manager and Global Editor.  Since running her own business almost 10 years ago she has been runner up in the Soar Awards twice, and the National Business Brilliance Awards. Jo has published two books, launched 3 programs and run 7 retreats, locally and overseas. She has been interviewed on a number of US and Australian podcasts and spoken on many stages. Most recently she was asked to facilitate at the Ultimate Girls Week Away with guest speaker Elizabeth Gilbert.  

# Her vision for the future, after she realised a while back that whilst she teaches people how to write and market their business more effectively, that process is really only the vehicle to a greater purpose.  What SHE REALLY does is help people build lives where they are unapologetic and free to earn whatever they choose, have the flexibility to work the hours and conduct their business in any way they want, and have the confidence to freely express and create whatever their heart desires.

Our June Networking series event, Is Anybody Listening?, is an opportunity to listen and learn from Sue Mathieson to help you to discover how to present in a way that is congruent with exactly who you are. 

Being able to effectively market and promote our business is a key component to its success. In today’s digital world we do that through Facebook lives, webinars, podcasts and workshops….all of which require speaking. Yet for many of us, we would rather die than speak in front of a camera or to a live audience. 

Meet our fabulous guest speaker in June, Sue Mathieson.

Sue Mathieson

Sue Mathieson brings together life experience and learning in a captivating manner. She takes you on a journey which allows you to discover your own lessons and be able to apply them. She provides practical tools that are easily implemented. 

When Sue was told that she was under constant trauma and at risk of a heart attack or stroke, she made a decision to take action and get clinical help. Admitting that she was suffering severe depression was challenging. However, the drive to be the best possible mum, daughter, friend and business woman was stronger. 

Sue went on to overcome the depression, re-invent herself and return to her career. In May 2017, Sue took the courageous step of leaving her corporate role and commenced her own business. She wants to be able to take her experiences of personal growth and her learnings of what works and what doesn’t work when running a business, to inspire others. 

Sue has come to understand the link between contemporary science and ancient wisdom. Applying this to her own personal experience she is able to assist senior business leaders in bringing greater wisdom into their decision-making and action taking. This is turn facilitates transformation, creates sustainability and leaves a positive legacy. 

Three insights into Sue:

# As part of a 30+ year corporate financial career, Sue spent time in mining, manufacturing and healthcare. In May 2017 she embarked on a consulting career. Over the past three years she has invested heavily in her personal development, become a published author and taken up her passion for speaking. Sue is currently a non-executive director for Foundation Learning Centre and is a certifiemBIT (mBraining) coach.

# Achievements include contributing author to four books – I Said YES, Spiritual Conversations, Intrepid Women and Think Big, speaker and ambassador for Beyond Blue, current President of Berwick Toastmasters, Non-Executive Director for Foundation Learning Centre.

# Her vision for the future is to transform business leaders and the organisations they lead, enabling them to leave a positive imprint on our future.

Make It Work! – Meet our April Guest Speaker

Our Women Making It Work Networking Night series in 2020 is all about you.

The third event in our series, Make It Work!, is an opportunity to gain valuable insights from TV personality and Keynote Speaker, Dr Louise Mahler, looking at the habitual patterns women make that may undermine making ‘it’ work. Participants will recognise it in themselves, find new skills and patterns of engagement and have a jolly good laugh along the way. 

Meet our wonderful guest speaker in April, Dr Louise Mahler.

Dr Louise Mahler

Dr Louise Mahler is a leadership speaker whose informative, practical and actionable keynote, as well as the way she engages with humour, makes her very much a motivational leadership speaker amongst the best motivational leadership speakers in her area in Australia, if not globally. 

While completing her awarded PhD, Louise observed a missing ingredient in corporate leadership, an understanding of the mind-body-voice connection she calls Vocal Intelligence. By helping people to develop the skills behind each she is able to create discernible, positive change. Added to her understanding of the psychology behind high-stake engagements and the structures for handling emotion, these became the foundation of the Mahler Method, a program for leaders who wish to excel. 

Mahler is an expert in body language, voice and emotion, with a PhD in business, and degrees and masters in organisational psychology as well as music. Her skills as a master practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming combine with her professional performance experience on the worldwide opera stage to give her a unique perspective on what presence and authority entail.

Procrastination is a human condition! Linda has never met anyone who hasn’t suffered from some serious procrastination in their lives. In Dr Linda Wilsons’ presentation you will learn why we procrastinate and what procrastination reveals about our emotional state.

Dr Linda Wilson

Dr Linda Wilson helps organisations develop Growth Focused People. Supporting individuals to identify their version of success is how a business can harness their drive and commitment towards business growth. Her objectives are to provide motivational frameworks, positive mindset tools, structured processes and neurology based solutions to create and leverage success. Habit change is a foundation of her work and has lots of fun doing it!  

Bringing a unique perspective on personal and professional growth, Linda helps people develop adaptable minds. This enables them to conceive a bigger picture and achieve the goals that are important to them. Linda’s coaching programs, workshops and presentations take a balanced and wholistic approach to growth by focusing on the individual’s unique neurology and introducing tools for change. With an emphasis on creating solid foundations for success Linda provides clients with inspiration, education, adaptable mindset, emotional tools and a powerful vision for their future. 

Linda has owned and run a multimodality health care practice in the SE suburbs of Melbourne for over 20 years.

# Originally from the Central Desert region of Australia, Linda has lived in many places across Australia and travelled throughout Asia. She moved to Melbourne in the early nineties for further study and has lived here ever since.

# Achievements include coaching and mentoring for over 20 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a Graduate Diploma in Education (Health), has completed extensive study in psychosensory techniques and uses psychological principles to facilitate change.  Linda has owned and run a multimodality health care practice in the SE suburbs of Melbourne for over 20 years. She has the privilege of being the mother to 2 incredible human beings who make her proud every day and 2 fur children as well. 

# Her vision for the future is where ever there are people wanting to better understand themselves that is where I will be. I have noticed over the 20+ years I have spent in the coaching and personal development area that there is a new found interest in habit intervention technology, understanding motivation and it’s shadow sister procrastination and what it is that makes us tick. I find human behaviour endlessly fascinating and look forward to our transcendence through what has been a very selfish era into an era of greater compassion and support for others and our planet.

Our Women Making It Work Networking Night series in 2020 is all about you.

The first in our series, Build Confidence & Empower You, is a lively and interactive panel discussion, exploring the essence of confidence – where it comes from, how to grow it, the difference between egoic confidence and humble confidence, and how to overcome imposter syndrome! As we grow our businesses, we stretch into new territory. That takes confidence – so the panel discussion will dive deep into the incredible minds of three extraordinary business women and how they’ve navigated confidence to achieve new heights in their businesses and careers. 

Meet our three fabulous panellists, Helen Storr, Renée Giarrusso and Shelley Flett.

Helen Storr

Helen is an experienced coach, facilitator and trainer who has worked successfully with individuals, groups and organisations. She is a talented intuitive coach who has the ability to allow all her clients to reach their full potential. Her extensive experience as an educator over 37 years, including Teacher, Principal and Regional Leader has provided her with a thorough understanding of how people learn and she has been able to use this knowledge in her training, coaching and facilitating opportunities.

Through Helen’s extensive experience in both education and the coaching profession she truly believes everyone has the resources within to be the best self they can be, given the optimum environmental conditions. She is passionate about supporting and providing a safe, secure environment which enables and empowers individuals and teams to explore different perspectives and options and create appropriate actions to allow them to move forward in a positive way; maximizing their potential. Helen brings a high level of creativity, compassion and courage to her practice encouraging clients to do the same.

Helen’s motto is “I Dare to Be Different: I work with Creativity, Compassion and Courage”.

# A born and bred educator disruptor, 37 years as an educator as a teacher, principal and regional trainer, supporting and developing students, staff and parents. Helen’s passion was working in areas of high need such as low socio economic, multicultural and disabilities needs environments.

# Achievements are matriarch of an amazing family unit, amazing leader and team player, caring friend and connector of people, positive growth mindset thinker, travel planner (does all her own planning of travels), various academic achievements including Masters of Ed, Leadership and Management, Professional Certified Coach – International Coach Federation (ICF), a Small Business Owner and her education career, Enrichment Speaker on Cruise Ships, Past President of ICF – Victorian Branch.

# Her vision is to educate and develop our young people’s thinking to focus on their world in a positive, solution focussed way. Where they can think ‘what I can do to make a difference’ instead of blaming others for where we are. To acknowledge, appreciate and celebrate what they have and find a way to leave their positive fingerprint on their world, however big or small.

Renée Giarrusso

Renée has always been fascinated with people and human behaviour. She loves the diversity of people’s perspectives and insights and it led her to be on a continual learning journey and has never stopped studying! She embarked on studying coaching, facilitation and NLP (Neuro Linguistic programming) whilst in a people-management role and found the learnings and results so astounding, Renée wanted to share them with everyone!

In Renée’s corporate life she knew what it was like to be part of a passionate and committed team and this is something she looks to continually share and instil in the teams she coaches, trains and develops. Specialising in executive coaching, consulting, speaking and facilitated workshops, her key focus areas include leadership, communication, sales effectiveness, transition and coaching.

With over 15 years in senior management and sales roles within FMCG, she has a great understanding of the needs of executives and leaders to perform at their peak, and knows well the day-to-day pressures that can be put on individuals to perform and the amazing benefits that self-development can provide to combat this. Renée is a senior iWAM consultant and Advanced Practitioner, a tool that enhances the coaching process within team building workshops and can also model high performers in a role and be used as a blueprint during recruitment, coaching and succession planning.

Renée is a member of the ICF and has been an ICF Credentialed Certified Coach and NLP practitioner for over twelve years. In 2016 she published Limitless Leadership, a practical guide for exploring where you are at, and what you need to do and think about to lead for even more success.

Shelley Flett

Shelley Flett is an expert in leadership development and team performance. She has successfully operated her own consulting practice since 2015 after more than 13 years working as a leader in various roles across customer service and operations.

Passionate about maximising efficiency and building high performance team cultures in organisations of any size, her work gives her exposure and experience to businesses across a wide variety of industries including banking, telecommunications, government, local council, critical infrastructure, engineering, hair & beauty, trades, insurance, marketing, travel and retail. Some of the larger clients she has worked with include TAC, VisionStream, Toyota, ANZ, Westpac, NAB, Auscontact, Business Chicks, Vicinity Centres and ARC Group.

Shelley has authored two books The Direction Dilemma – why knowing what you want makes you a better leader and more recently, The Dynamic Leader – become the leader others are inspired to follow. She is a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming, an accredited coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and trained in Human Centred Design. Her values in business include growth, delivering results, sharing wisdom, helping others, fulfilling a purpose, and having fun.

Three insights into Shelley:

# She grew up on a dairy farm and orange orchard, worked in a number of different industries including manufacturing, hospitality, telecommunications and banking and lived in five different countries.

# Greatest achievements are her three children, Luis, Riley and Eva. Shelley’s business is her next greatest achievement which has been growing and evolving since 2015.

# Her vision for the future is to create a world where we actively inspire and elevate those around us, without judgement and with complete compassion and confidence.
