This event will explore how you can grow your business and increase productivity by bringing in talented individuals from the on-demand marketplace. You will also learn from our panelists that you don’t necessarily need to use one of these platforms to do it. Along the way, you’ll discover the pros and cons of “gigging” and some real stories of successes and lessons learned from our panel of experts.

Lorraine is a commercially astute HR professional with extensive experience in both strategic and operational HR roles. Her experience extends to both setting up HR functions and leading established teams that build business capability through strategic people initiatives.

Having worked for some iconic brands like Australian Unity, Priceline, Bevilles and endota, Lorraine’s experience crosses over many industries including Legal, Telecommunications, Retail and Manufacturing. She is also a board member for Foundation Learning Centre (FLC), a not-for-profit organisation that champions community development through education.

Lorraine believes that a strong company culture and developing the capability of managers to lead their teams is the key to driving business growth and profitability. Committed to empowering companies to understand and lead their people with a strategic people focused approach, she brings both sound HR practices and business acumen to her clients.

My two daughters are my biggest achievement, followed by a 30 year marriage to my husband Lex. On the professional side, I am proudest of my time at Axicorp, where I helped build a business from 50 employees to 350 in three years and a successful sale to Primus. Almost seven years at Priceline, where again we grew the business by 50 pharmacies every year for 4 years and endota, where I have the opportunity to create my vision of a great place to work.

Vision for the future: To stop helping others’ build their dream business and build my own dream.

Brian Le Mon, Founder and CEO of Ethical Outsourcing

Brian Le Mon is an effective and practical Management Consultant and Business Mentor in the areas of Process Optimisation, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement and Business Start-ups. Brian has worked an entire career in Small Business and Start-ups where the Position Title often becomes irrelevant in lieu of doing whatever needs to be done to help the business survive and (hopefully) grow. 


Brian’s knowledge and experience comes from living the start-up life long before leaving the 9-5 employment life and breaking out into his own business ventures. He has worked with SBMS as a Small Business Mentor and has also worked with multimillion companies on refining there processes and supply chain capabilities.

Whilst I could rattle off a list of financial achievements I have realised for my larger clients as a consultant, Some of my greatest achievements have been with the small business and startup companies I have worked with. Some of these achievements that rate highest with me personally are:

– Allowing a fledgling business a few years of profitability by recommending cost saving initiatives and helping to implement these to bring them back to competitiveness with international vendors. 

– Working with a client to streamline their operations prior to a visit from a potential international client and then representing the company to the client to help them to secure a lucrative contract. 

– Helping a client to secure and train suitable manufacturing resources which led to the company growing and eventually listing on the ASX.

– Setting up processes and systems for companies to dramatically reduce the amount of time wasted on repetitive work.

– Running an AirBNB business with 100% 5 star feedback and customer experience across all properties.

– Starting an Outsourced Services business that focussed on providing a decent salary to staff instead of attempting to take advantage of offshore staff.

– Being resilient and flexible enough to work in different gig roles in order to continue building a business.


Vision for the future: 

My vision for the future is to start doing more workshops, webinars and speaking events where attendees can benefit from the knowledge and experience I have built up over a career of multiple varied roles.

Sarah Higgins, Business Owner and Lead Consultant at Helping Hands GroupThe combination of the diverse range of technical skills Sarah accrued via her work in IT support, as well as the training roles she  held in the past, led her to create The Helping Hands Group. As the Business Owner, Sarah is the “face” of the group and is supported by her multi-skilled team.


Sarah loves working with her diverse range of clients on an equally diverse range of projects. When she’s not having fun with her work, you’ll find her playing with her 2 kids, knitting, or enjoying cuddles with her 2 dogs.


Background: Bachelor of Computing, 20+ years’ IT support experience, 15+ years training experience 


Achievements: 2 beautiful girls, 5 years in business with 2 employees
